I had been in and out of Tattoo Zoo, a few times in 2004, asking questions and humming and hawing. I had even promised my sister that when she got her tattoo I would get my tongue peirced, I chickened out. It was not until I got to Yellowknife (which honestly seems like the body mod capital of Canada!!) I started to notice peircings that I wish I had, but I was not comfortable getting my tongue done at the shop in Yellowknife (for personal reasons)
Anyways, once I got back to BC the first plans I made (asside from finding work) was to get my tongue peirced, I got hired before I got it done and I mentioned to my boss what my intentions were (seeing as I had been hired to work at a Daycare it seemed unfair to just rush into a body mod that would affect my speaking abilities at work) she was cool with it so July long weekend (July 1 in Canada) I sent my boyfriend off on a "boys only testostrone filled weekend" and rented some girly movies, made chamomille ice chips, and bought lots of Razzle Rocket popcicles.
The next morning I ate a huge eggs Benny breakfast before walking down to Warf St, to see Danika, after sitting down and discussing what considerations she would have to take on the placement of my barbell; she then made me swish with Yuck! listerine (the original stuff, the thought of it still makes me gag!). She then made the dot, handed me a mirror to check it out. Next she slipped the clamp on to my tongue and explained the hindu breathing exercise she wanted me to use and told me that she would count and peirce on three. All I remember was the cold steel slipping through my tongue and the light headedness I felt from all that deep breathing.
She double checked the beads and then handed me a "jaundice yellow" sucker for being good while I relaxed a minute, my body was "zinging" with energy because I had hyped myself up for pain and pinching!
After I paid, tipped well, and headed out to Sidney for my hair appointment... Not something I would suggest doing! LOL, it was a long bus ride and all I wanted to do was sleep after the adrenelin started leaving my body!
I was glad that I had done some research before hand because I had neglected to ask about sleeping. To avoid sever morning swelling it is best to sleep with your head elivated and take an ibiprphen before hitting the hay.
