I decided to get some sort of bodmod done after recovering from a nasty case of postpartum depression. I needed to do something that was totally for myself, and had been considering a tatoo for years. I didn't want to do that since I was breastfeeding, and had always loved the look of nose piercings so decided to do that until I felt it was safe to get a tatoo.
One day when my husband came home from work, I told him that I wanted to go get it done. We packed the kids up, hopped in the car and went to the place I had heard several recommendations for.
I was just a tiny bit nervous, but more excited than anything. My 8-year-old daughter was really nervous about it and refused to watch. She amused herself by looking at pictures of cartoon character tatoos.
Anyway, I laid back in the chair and Tammy (at least that is what I remember her name being) got everything ready. She had me breathe in and then on the exhale she did the piercing. It was totally painless, it felt like NOTHING! My husband said I didn't even flinch.
The healing went really smoothly and was virtually pain-free until my stud yanked out when it caught on the towel I was drying off with after a shower. It was about two weeks after the piercing and it HURT LIKE HELL! It was very difficult to get the jewelry back in, but after about an hour of working on it, I finally got it back in. The next couple days it hurt worse than it ever did after getting the piercing, and it bled sometimes. But it got better fairly quick.
I did get a mild infection several months after getting it done. It came totally out of the blue and I have no clue what caused it because it seemed to be completely healed. It got red and sore and pus came out of it, so I went back to the aftercare routine and kept neosporin on it for about a week. It healed fine and I haven't had any problems since.
I am so glad that I did it and would highly recommend it to anyone. It was my first piercing other than my ears, and I think it was a great way to lose my body piercing virginity.
Now I just can't decide what to do next...
